My Story
My name is Kimberly Smith and I started my career in jewelry as a sales associate at Kay Jewelers, earning my way through college. I continued my way up the ranks as the assistant manager, until the water bug hit me and I moved from Ohio to the Florida Keys in 2001.
I have woven a life intertwined with children, scuba diving, dolphin training, yoga, paddleboarding, the best of friends, and lots of laughter and tremendous loss. I have accomplished goals I never thought attainable. I have not only survived, but have learned how to thrive in this universe, and I taught myself how to smile again while in the depths of grief.
In the fall of 2003, after falling deeply in love with my future husband, he tied a special band around my ankle and melted it together so it was one continuous infinite line, with the promise that one day, when he had a bit more money, I would get an engagement ring instead. That “Smitty band” didn’t come off until after he had passed away and nearly 18 years after he promised to always be my forever.
Fast forward 20 years, I was introduced to permanent jewelry and thought it was the perfect way to “replace” my Smitty band with a beautiful 14kt gold anklet to honor my late husband and our eternal love. I fell in love with the process and decided I wanted to provide this experience for others, and with my background in jewelry, it felt like the perfect full-circle career!
How does it work
Choose your chain from a variety of different styles and metals. I offer 14kt white and yellow gold, gold filled, and sterling silver.
After you have made your selection and chosen the location you’d like (bracelet, anklet, necklace, ring), I measure for the appropriate slack, cut the chain, and weld it back together with a link or jump ring for one continuous piece of stunning jewelry!
Charms
Charms give your jewelry a bit of sparkle and brilliance! I offer a variety of connector pieces and dangle charms. Isn’t it irritating when your necklace clasp drifts around from the back of your neck to the front and is mixed up with your charm? Clasp-free jewelry to the rescue!
Here’s something fun! I can link your Stanley cup handle, your Apple Watch band, or anything you can imagine with some sparkly chains and charms!
The Experience
It’s all about the experience! The process is fun and engaging, and when you get linked with someone special in your life, it is something to remember for many years to come, just like the life of your jewelry!
This is the perfect experience to share with your significant other, your bestie, mother/daughter, bridal party, or simply treat yourself like I did!
permanent jewelry
Permanent Jewelry is applied with a welder that allows fine metals to be welded together in a fraction of a second. The quick spark welds together the links of the chain or a jump ring which replaces the need for a clasp. The spark that is generated during this process is NOT of high temperature allowing for quick & safe application.
The chains applied during this process are thin enough to last but not thick enough to cause harm to the wearer if it were to become caught on an object. If they need to be removed for any reason, simply snip them with a pair of scissors or nail clippers. Should you wish to remove the jewelry for any reason, it can always be re-welded.
You will not feel a thing as we are working with the metal, not your skin! There is no risk to you, as the welder will only react to metal. With our machine, should the customer's skin come in contact with the weld point, the electrode will not generate a spark.
Linking the Keys is a certified permanent jewelry artist, serving all of the Florida Keys, from Key Largo to Key West. Each of our chains is named after one of the islands, or Keys, and the bridges connecting the Keys are the links which bind us together!
You’ll find me at private parties, pop-up events at local boutiques and restaurants, and vendor markets.

Pricing
The price of the jewelry is based on the type of metal chosen and the length needed, as well as if you choose to add a charm or connector. I offer 14k solid gold, gold-filled, and sterling silver. Current prices range from $5/inch to $40/inch.
Private Parties require a $50 deposit to secure your date. The host will receive a free sterling silver or gold-filled bracelet, or you can choose to use the deposit toward the cost of a solid gold bracelet.
Hosting a pop-up event is a beautiful collaboration between your business and mine! I advertise daily on social media for your business to bring in additional foot traffic that may not have come in otherwise! Pop-up event host receive a free bracelet and all employees receive 20% off.
